NATIVE MATTERS.
The following items are from our contemporary of yesterday, evidently obtained from ministerial sources : — 4"4 The Colonial Government gun-boat St. Kilda, Captain Fox, arrived in Wellington harbor on Friday morning last, from Opotiki, with Hltene and 64 Ngatiporous from the Ea&jDoast. They have gone to Patea, and, If %ecessasy, will be sent _o Taranaki. %* Colonel Whitmore was in hot pursuit of Titokowaru at the latest date s from the Front, and it was thought that the rebels were making for Waitara by the beach at the back of Mount Egmont. When the St. Kilda left Opotiki there were 300 Europeans and natives under arms there, and Major Mair was following up Te Kooti. The Government has offered a reward of £200 (two hundred pounds) for the capture of Te WJaru, and £10 (ten pounds) each for the capture of any of the male adults of his gang who are threatening an attack on Wairoa. The Government are wanting men of good character for the Armed Constabulary. ___.______-_,__._.
