NATIVE LANDS COURT.

The Native Lands Court was opened at Napier on Monday last, and continued sitting till Thursday at noon. H. Monro Esq., one of the Judges of the court, presided — assisted in some cases by Harawira,- and in others by Karaitiana, as native assessor. Considerable dissatisfaction was expressed at the delay in settling the terms of the confiscated block in the Petane district. We subjoin a list of the claims submitted and dealt with :— - Whataangaanga block No. 2. — Grantees, Te Waaka Kawatini, Karaitiana, Manaena, Paora Torotoro, Te Meihana, Henare Tomoana, Karauria Pupu, Tareha Mbananui, Wiremu Maiaia. Waipureku block, 76 acres. — Grantees, Karaitiana, Hone Te Wharemako, Erueti Ngamu, Waka Kawatini. Parawhariki block, 228 acres. — Grantees, Karauria Pupu, Tareha Moananui, Wiremu Maiaia, Heremaia Hunuhunu. Awahou block. — Included in Parawhariki. Waipiropiro block. — Grantees, Karauria Pupu, Tareha, Tamehana Pekapeka. Tutae-o-mahu No. 2. — Claimant absent. Case adjourned. Te Pukeroa, 18 acres. — Grantee, Tareha Moananui. Pakaututu, Tara o te Rauhina, Arapaoanui, Tutira, Purakotangihia, Waikare, Awa o Totara, Pakuratahi, and Tangoio. These were all found to be within the boundary of the conficsated land, ancl the claims dismissed. Te Horo. — Crown land. Claim withdrawn. Omarunui, 238 acres. — Grantees, Paora Torotoro, Hare Ngawhakakapinga, Te Waka Kawatini, Te Awapuni. Pae-o-Hinemahanga block. — Same as Rangatira Mate, already granted. Dismissed. Kaiwaka. — Within confiscated land. Dismissed. • Te Matia. — No appearance of claimant. No survey. Dismissed. Ngapuna a Raukawa. — No survey. Adjourned. Te Kelru. — Found to be included in Nga- | mahanga, already granted. Moteo. — No survey. Claimant did not appear. Dismissed. Tuhirangi. — No survey. Adjourned. Waipuka, Okaihau, and Waimarama. — One block containing 35,211 acres, subdivided into three grantees — Te Teira Tiakitai, and nine othors ; To Harawira Tatere, and. nine others ; Wi Te Rangituroa, and .nine others. Kohinepare. — No survey. Adjourned. Otukarara. — Claimant absent. Adjourned. I Kohuroa. — Claimant absent. Adjourned. Tunanui. — Claimant absent. Adjourned. * Okawa. — No survey. Claimant did not appear. Dismissed. Omahu. — No survey. Claimant did not appear. Dismissed. . . The court will, we understand, sit at Waipawa on the 31st inst., and at Wairoa on the 14th prox.
