REPORTED ARRIVAL OF THE DUKE OF EDINBURGH AT THE CAPE.
The "Melbourne Argus," of the 4th instant, supplies the following intelligence : — "We have papers from Port Louis, Mauritius, to the 27th, and telegraphic intelligence, via Adelaido, to the 29th of August. News had been received just before the departure of the ship which brought the latest intelligence that the Galatea had arrived at the Cape of Good Hope. Tho commissioners from" Mauritius, therefore, would reach Cape Town in time to give Prince Alfred an invitation to that island. As the fever had abated, if not entirely subsided, it is very probable that the invitation would.be accepted. Presuming the Prince left the Cape about tho 10th of September, and that the voyage lasted eight days, and that he spent tea days in Mauritius, he would sail from Port Louis about tho 28th ult. Allowing fifteen days for the voyage to Promantle, eight days for his stay in Western Australia, aud six days for the voyage from King George's Sound (presuming the Prince to rejoin the Galatea there), he would uot reach Adelaide till the 27 th ofthe present month. Allowing fourteen days for his visit to that colony, and four days for the sail round to Melbourne, the Prince would be due here about the 14th of November."
