AN ACT to Enlarge the Provincial Council, and to alter the ' Electoral Districts of the Province of Hawke's Bay. Y/^HEREAS it is expedient to enlarge the Provincial Council, and to alter the * * Electoral Districts of Hawke's Bay : Be it therefore enacted by the Superintendent and Provincial Council of Hawke's Bay, as follows : — j 1. After this Act shall come into operation, the Provincial Council of this Province shall consist of 15 members. 2. The Members shall be returned by the Districts next hereinafter named, and each District shall return the number of Members set opposite the name of such District as follows, viz. : Name of District. Number of Members. Town of Napier 5 Napier Country District .' 2 North Clive 1 * South Clive 1 Te Aute District ....: '. 2 Waipukurau 2 Porangahau 1 Mohaka 1 Total 15 3. The Boundaries of each of the said Districts are specified and described in the Schedule to this Act annexed. 4. As soon as conveniently may be after the period when this Act shall take effect, the Superintendent shall issue Writs for the Election of the additional number of Members, by the several Districts respectively, to serve during the remainder of the continuance of the present Council, as follows : By the District of the Town of Napier 2 Members " " " South Clive 1 " « " TeAute...., 1 « " " Porangahau 1 " 5. This Act shall commence and take effect on and from the day of October, 1861. oo THE SCHEDULE TO WHICH THE FOREGOING -ACT REFERS. - MOHAKA. Commencing at the Sea Coast at the thirty-ninth degree of South latitude ; following the Sea Coast in an Easterly and Southerly direction to the mouth of the Waikare ; then up the Waikare to its source ; and from thence an. imaginary line to where the thirty-ninth degree of South latitude strikes the North West boundary of the Province ; then following the boundary of the Province to the Sea Coast. NAPIER COUNTRY DISTRICT. Commencing at the Sea Coast at Waikare, following the Sea Coast to as far as Sections sixty-eight and sixty-nine Meanee Spit in the Town of Napier ; then across the Ahuriri Harbour to the mouth of the Tutaekuri or Meanee, following up that river to its source ; from thence proceeding in a Westerly direction to the boundary of the Province ; then along that boundary in a Northerly direction to the Southern boundary of the Mohaka District ; from thence following the said Southern boundary to the Sea Coast at Waikare, TOWN OF NAPIER. The boundary commences at the Northern side of Sections numbers sixty-eight and sixty -nine Meanee Spit in the Town of Napier, and crosses Ahuriri Harbour to the mouth of the River Meanee or Tutaekuri, and follows the bank of the said River to Awatoto ; thence by a due East line to the Sea Coast, and along the Sea Coast in a Northerly direction to the point opposite the Northern side of Sections sixty-eight and sixty-nine Meanee Spit. ' TE AUTE. Commencing at the Sea Coast at the Southern boundary of the Town of Napier, following the Sea Coast Southerly to the old mouth of the River Ngaruroro ; up that River to Louisa Creek ; from thence following the boundary of the Mata block to the Tukituki or Alma ; following up that to Waipawa ; up the Waipawa to the mouth of the Manga-o-nuku ; up the Manga-o-nuku to its source ; and from thence a line so as to include the Kereru Bush, and from the Kereru Bush proceeding due West to the Western boundary of the Province ; along the boundary of the Province proceeding Norherly to the South-west point of the Napier Country District ; following down that boundary and the Southern boundary of the Town of Napier to the Sea. clive. Commencing at the Sea Coast at the old mouth of the River Ngaruroro, near Waitangi ; following the Sea Coast in a Southeasterly direction to the mouth of the Maraetotara at Awanga, following the Maraetotara for the Eastern boundary to the Native Path from Kohinirakau to Waimarama ; from thence keeping the path to Mangarara ; down that Stream to the Tukituki or Alma ; crossing which the boundary follows the South and West boundary of the Mata Block to Louisa Creek ; and from thence proceeds down the River Ngaruroro to the point of starting. _ SOUTH CLIVE. Commencing at the mouth of the Maraetotara at Awanga ; following the Sea Coast to Blackhead ; then proceeding along the Southern boundary of the Hapuku Block to Hua-toki-toki ; following up that stream to its source ; then proceeding Northerly to the source of the Manga-mahaki ; down that Stream to the River Tukituki, which, follow to the Mangarara ; proceeding up that Stream to the Native path to Waimarama, follow that path in an Easterly direction to the .Maraetotara j then down the Maraetotara to the Sea Coast. PORANGAHAU. Commencing at the Sea Coast at Blackhead, proceed Westerly along the South boundary of the Hapuku Block to Hua-toki-toki ; follow down that Stream to Taurakaitai ; up that River and the Manga-onga-onga to Purimu ; and from thence proceed due , South to Rakau Puki on the Southern boundary of the Province ; then follow the above boundary line of the Province to the Sea Coast at Waimata, and follow the Sea Coast to Blackhead. ■WAIPUKURAU. CoSimencing at Ra.kau Puki, proceed Westerly along the Southern boundary of the Province to the Western boundary of the same ; follow the said Western boundary to the South boundary of the Te Aute District ; follow that boundary to the Tukituki as far as Manga-mah^i ; then proceed up. the Manga-mahaki to its source j from thence to the source of the Hua-toki-toki, down that stream to Taurakaitai ; up the Taurakaitai to Purimu Lake ; and from thence proceed in a direction due South to Rakau Puki, on the Southern boundary of the Province.
