3y the «Wonga Wonga' and 'White Swan* jur files are to Tuesday last. The Governor arrived at Minakau from Taraniiki on the "28th ult. The Church of England Syn.)d terminited its proceedings on the sth inst. Most af the Canterbury and Nelson members had returned to their homes, and the Auckland members, as well as the Bishop of Waipu, are now on board the 'White Swan.' A most daring and successful escape from Wellington Gaol was effected on the 4th inst. The chain gang attacked and overpowered the turnkeys, locking them up in their cells. The prisoners who escaped are Kelly, Woods, Cullen, Darley, Stringer, Shields, D'Arcy, and Gafney. Woods, it will be remembered, escaped on a former occasion and was recaptured at the Wairoa. Two or three of the convicts had been again secured. Our space being so much occupied by i English news, we reserve extracts till our "next.
