TARANAKI.

The following proclamation has been issued by His Excellency the Governor, in reference to the intertribal warfare at Taranaki. It will be observed that the date of it is the 12th — whereas our own intelligence — of a satisfactory character— is tothe 11th, from the scene of hostilities. PROCLAMATION By His Excellency Colonel Thomas Gore Browne, Companion of the most Honorable Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony of New Zealand, and Vice-Admiral of <.he same, &c, &c. WHEREAS conflicts between armed parties of the Aboriginal Natives have . recently taken place at New Plymouth, to.the danger and alarm of Her Majesty's subjects who are engaged in their lawful occupations : Now, therefore, I, the Governor of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim and declare that all persons whosoever who shall unlawfully assemble with Arms within the boundaries of the District described, in the Schedule to this Proclamation, will without further notice, be treated as persons in Anna against the Queen's Authority, and active measures will be forthwith taken against them by Her Majesty's Civil Authorities, and Military Forces. Given under my hand, and issued under the Public Seal of the Colony of New- Zealand, at Government House, at Auckland this twelfth day of February, in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and fifty-eight.
