During last week some valuable property changed hands. The auctioneer was Mr. Allen, of Wellington, who acted for the trustees of Torr's estate. The Ahuriri Hotel and three sections on Meanee Spit were sold to Richardson and Charlton for £630 ; and the Settlers 1 Hotel, Waipureku, better known as the Clive Hotel, was sold to the present occupant, Mr. Arthur, for the sum of £260. Bd., with but few transactions ; oil (scamperdown), £55 @ £60 3P tun ; sawn timber and building materials in demand — white pine, ffi 100 feet, 205., kauri, 355. ; flour, Napier Steam Mill, none on hand, Auckland, £25 @ £28 ton ; wheat, 55., @ ss. 6d., tff bushel ; maize, the same ; butter, fresh ffi 5b Is--6d.; eggs, dozen, Is. 6d. ; firewood, very scarce. AUCKLAND MARKETS— Tuesday Jan. 4 The Mills. — Fletcher and Solomon's, fine flour, £18, seconds, £15, per ton ; bran, Is. 3d. to Is. 6d ; wheat, 6s. to 6s, 6d. ; maize, 75. ; potatoes, £5 ; kauri gum £9 10s. to £10 per ton. — Messrs. Thornton, Smith, & Firth (Wharf Steam Mill) flour, fine, £16, second quality, £14 per ton ; bran Is. ; wheat ss. ; cracked maize, 7s. 6d. — Low & Motion : flour, fine, £18, seconds, £15 per ton ; bran, Is. 3d. ; wheat nominal. The quotations for flour are similar to the latter at Mr. Partington's Mill and Mr. Brigham's. Bread : 2 lb. loaf sd. Building Materials. — Kauri timber boards and scantling, 20s. per 100 feet, tongued and grooved, £1 75.; shingles, 13s. to 14s. ; palings, 15s. ; bricks, £4 to £4 10s ; posts and rails, £3 ss. Sheep. — At the Newmarket Cattle Sale, held by Mr. Alfred Buckland, on Tuesday last, Fat Sheep sold well, and there was an active demand for Store Sheep ; those ex "Surprise," from Ahuriri, sold at 255. 6d.
