Miss M. Thomson returned on Tuesday after spending a few days in Wellington. ... Mrs H. M. Besley is visiting her sister, Dr Jessie Burnett, Hunterville. Mrs Hawk returned from Tauranga at the end of last week. After spending a holiday m Auckland, Mrs A. Harrop has returned. Mrs I’illing, Bedding, is the guest of her sister, Mrs T. 11. Overton. Mr and Mrs W. McL’Dowie left to-day for Palmerston North, where they will attend the Manawatu show. Mrs Broderick, Maxwell, was a visitor to Hawera during the week. Miss Bissett, Russell, is the guest of her sister, Mrs Arthur Smith. Jardinieres of ixias and rhododendrons made bright splashes of colour in the floral decorations when Mrs l. J Salmon entertained friends on Tuesday afternoon. The guests at tea were Mesdames Wyborn (Te Arohn), L A. Ablett, C. H. Washer, Moorhouse, H. G. Whitehead, S. A. Chisholm, J. W. Ogle, J Stewart A. j Smith, Misses M. Washer and Bissett (Russell). Sister Spence, who has been on night duty at the Hawera public hospital for two and a-half years, leaves 021 .Friday to take her Plunket tramnla in Dunedin. Last Monday night Sister Spence was the guest of honour at a bridge evening in the nurses home. The lounge was decorated with spravs of pastel shaded azaleas and azalea mollis. On behalf of the nursing staff the matron, Miss J. Fraser, presented Sister Spence with a handsome handbag.
Eltham Personals
Miss Helen Rybnrn has accepted a position as probationer on the staff oi the Waikato hospital. She will be stationed at Te Kwiti and later at Hamilton.
Miss Brooker, of Chiselhnrst, left Eltham last week-end on a visit to Palmerston North and Hastings. Mr and Mrs S. Morrison have returned to Eltham arter spending a holiday at Nelson and Takaka.
