LIFE OF CHRIST FILM

GRAND THEATRE, TO-NIGHT. The Ober-Ammagau Passion Play, performed in Ober-Ammagau last year, has now been in existence for three hundred years. The official pictures of this passion play will screen at the Grand Theatre, Hawera, tonight. To celebrate the ter-centennial it was decided to make a moving .picture representation of this world-fam-ous play. Even Hollywood considered the task too great, but it has been completed by a combined caste from Germany and Russia, whose names are not mentioned, all glory being ascribed to “The Christ” to whom the picture is reverently dedicated. Added interest lies in the fact that every incident in the life and death of the Man of Sorrows is acted upon the exact location. The Crucifixion takes place upon the actual Calvary, the Garden of Gethsemane is the actual garden where Jesus suffered His agony. All the Egyptian scenes are also upon the exact location.
