“FIRST LADY OF SCREEN” RUTH CHATTERTON AT WORK Path Chattorlon is back in Hollywu >'l working on her first picture uuder a new contract with Columbia, but scarcely anybody has bothered to report the fact, states the “Film Weekly.” "Wc have heard all about Ruth’s matrimonial troubles. The newspapers recently confirmed what the social gossips have keen hinting at for some time —i.e., that her marriage to George Bient had “gone on the rocks.” Four years ago Ruth Chatterton was one of the biggest stars iu Hollywood. She reigned alone in her own sphere. She wasvtlie first great star disclosed by the talkies, and within three years of her debut she had built up a following and a box office power which was the envy of many of the silent, day favourites who found themselves slipping as soon as they opened their mouths.
