ELTHAM RED CROSS SOCIETY
ALLEVIATION OF DISTRESS (From Our Own Corresopndent) At the monthly meeting of the Eltham branch of the Red Cross Society held on Tuesday evening, Mr I. J. Bridger presided, and also present were Mesdames T. Reakes, R. Allen, H. Clifford-Jones, R. B. Foord, B. H. Goldsmith, J. Mitchell and F. Muggeridge. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames D. Syme and A. P. Kemp. Mesdames Evans, Guy and Dawson (Kaponga) were elected new members. It was decided that a letter be sent to the combined committee responsible for the recent benefit dance expressing the society’s appreciation of the effort to alleviate distress. A donation of 6s was reecived from" Mrs D. Syme. Mesdames Allen and Mitchell were appointed in charge of the clothes depot for the month. About 12 persons generously assisted with clothing during the month.
