The Federal Government is taking steps to strengthen the economic position of the Queensland sugar industry by reducing the production. Chief sugar producing interests are co-opei-ating. The lower production will be reflected in the next crop by approximately 70,000 tons. It is stated that the export price ot
sugar is well below the cost of pro~ duction, while the proportion of the crop that must be exported unprofitably has been increasing.
