District Notes

A sevon-a-side hockey tournament arranged by the Tiihnma committee in aid of the Queen of the West carnival was played at Pihania on Tuesday and was won by the Oeo team, who met Otakeho in the final, the result being -I—l. Scorers for the home team were A. Muggeridge (2), L. Moreland and L. Muggeridge. The members of the team were: A. Muggeridge, L. Muggeridge, Moreland, L. Forsyth, >S. Forsyth, L. Yerrall and A. Winterburn.

During the match S. Forsyth (captain") received a hit with a ball which necessitated medical attention, throe stitches being inserted, and his place was taken by Bon. Thompson. The Wednesday junior match at Oeo resulted iri a draw, the score being three all. Mr C. Jones was referee. Scorers for Oeo were B. Thompson, A. Muggeridge and L. Moreland, and for Manaio M. Titchoner, L. Hansen, N. Walker.

•So far this season the Oeo team, which is newly formed, lias done remarkably well, meeting Tokaora in the final at Hawera on June 3. The Oco junior team which drew with Manaia at Oeo on Wednesday was very much weakened, owing to the absence of two players, S. Forsyth and A. Hughes, who, received injuries in previous matches. I

A number of Oeo children have already been treated at the Manaia Dental Clinic. Mr and Mrs Eric Henwood have returned and have taken up their residence at Oeo. Mr and Mrs Claude Henwood are on a visit to Wellington. Miss Ethel Masters is at present at home on holiday.

Mr Chas. Haynes is at present on a visit to Hamilton.

A wedding of considerable local interest took place at Hawera recently, when .Miss Stella Forsyth, of Piliaina, was married to Mr Ray Hughes, of Oeo. Both young people have lived all tlieir lives in the district. Mr Hughes was for a number of years on the staff of the Oeo factory, but is now employed in the Auroa branch of the Kaupokonui factory, where tlieir future home will
