DRUIDS’ LODGES
NEW HAWERA OFFICERS HALF-YEARLY INSTALLATION VISITING BRETHREN ATTEND. The half-yearly meeting of the Hawera Druids’ Loilge was held on Tuesday evening when A.D. Bro. Parkinson presided and there was a. large attendance of members and visitors from Eltham and Stratford Lodges, also P.A. Bro. Vowless, of Tauranga. One new member was initiated into the rites and ceremonies of Druidism. The Bards reported favourably on the sick members. D.P. Bro. Hollard installed the various officers into their respective chairs. On behalf of the lodge P.A.. Bro. Harding presented a set of household linen to Bro. Ben. Moody, stressing the amount of work that Ins bride-to-be had done for the order. A.D. Bro. Linton presented to D.P. Bro. Hollard a set of household linen as a small token of appreciation for the many small favours granted to members of the social committee and officers generally. At the conclusion of the lodge business all present adjourned to> the supper room, when musical items were interspersed with the various toasts as follows: “The King” and .“The Druids,” A.D. Bro. Linton; “Grand Lodge,’’ P.D.P. Bro. Adams—P.D.P. Bro. AVhitwell; “Newly Installed Officers,” P.A. Bro. Vowless—newly installed officers; “The Visitors,” P.D.P. Bro. Grant—Bros. Vowless and Whitwell; “The Ladies,” iP.A. Bro. Harding—D.'P. Bro. Hollard; “The Press,” A.D. Bro. L. J. Linton—Bro. H. Coombe; “Stewards,” P.S. Bro. Brough—P.A. Bro. Ewington; “The Artists,” P.D.P. Bro. Adlams —'Bro. Billows. Musical items were contributed by Messrs H. Collier and W. Adams, Bro. Queleh and Bro. Jeffaires and community singing was led by Mr Collier.
ELTHAAI. INSTALLATION OP. OFFICERS. (From Our Own Correspondent). The installation of officers of the Eltham Lodge took place in the lodge, when A.D. Bro. Allen presided and there was a large attendance of members, with visitors from Hawera and Stratford. District President Bro. R. Hollard (Hawera) was also present and carried out the installation. New officers were as follow: A.D., Bro. V. H. Frost; J.P.A., Bro. It. Allen; V.A.D., Bro. T. R. Bourke; 0.G.. Bro. G. B. D. Morton; 1.G., Bro. T. Fountaine: treasurer, Bro. A. Hargreaves; A.D. Bards, Bros. E. J. Williams and T. F. Chalmers; V .A.D. Bards. Bros. G. W. Peebles and J. Mancer. At the conclusion of the ceremony Bro. Hollard presented P.D. Bro. El. I>. Coad with a diploma and collar and made reference to his qualities as a Druid. Bro. Coad suitably replied. At supper toasts honoured were as follows: Loyal toast. Bro. V. Frost; “Grand Lodge,” Bro. Frost—Bros. A. Ware and Hollard; “Newly Installed Officers,’’ Bro. Coad—replies by the officers; “The Visitors,” Bro. T. R. Bourke—Bros. Linton and Laird; “The Ladies,’.’ Bro. E. C. Butler; “The Press,” Bro. H. J. Drabble—Mr A. Packard. For the visitors, Bro. L. Linton (Hawera) and Bro. R. Laird (Stratford) expressed their appreciation of the enjoyable evening. Items were contributed by Bro. Quelcli (Hawera), songs; Bro. Butler, recitations; Bro. Ware, Bro. Drabble and Mr A. W. Packard (humour). Dancing filled the remainder of the evening.
