Members of the Patea Harbour Board, all of whom were returned unopposed, were welcomed by the chairman, Mr A. T. Christensen, at. the monthly meeting of the board yesterday. Their return was an indication that the ratepayers were satisfied with their administration, saidi Mr Christensen in expressing appreciation of the efficient services of the board members. Mr A. T. Christensen, chairman of the Patea Harbour Board, was yesterday congratulated by members upon being one of the two Patea recipient* of the King’s Jubilee Medal. Mr A. Pearce referred to the thoroughness with which the chairman conducted the affairs of the board, while Messrs W. H. Watkins and G. H. Meuli also added tributes. Air Christensen returned thanks. Householders, old pupils and friends assembled at New Plymouth last night to farewell Mr G. A. Lyall, retiring headmaster of the Fitzroy school. The Mayor of New Plymouth (Air E. It. O. Gilmour) referred to tho respect in which Air and Airs Lyall were held and, together with Air W. H. Jones, acting-chairman of the Taranaki Education Board, expressed the hope that the guests of honour would enjoy the best of health and happiness in'the future.
