RACING TAXATION
Two Hawera Clubs Pay £3837 on Recent Meetings DEDUCTION FOR FOUR DAYS The taxation returns for the Egmont Racing Club's fixture last -week and the Hawera Trotting Club’s meeting at Easter draw attention to the revenue obtained by the Government from these sports. The local clubs alone have by these two meetings paid in no less than £3837 12s by way of taxation. Of this the Egmont Racing Club has paid £2251 IDs lid, as follows:

Totalisator duty .. 1002 11 3 Dividend duty .... 1032 7 0 Stakes tax .: 97 15 0 Amusement tax 58 7 S ...... 2251 10 11 The Hawera Trotting Club’s share amounts to £15S6 Os Id, being made up by:- £ s. cl. Totalisator duty Dividend duty .093 10 5 75S 2 0 82 5 0 Amusement tax 51 1G S 15SG 0 1 In addition a tax is paid on members’ fees, which amounts to approximately £30.
