UNEMPLOYMENT RETURNS

SLIGHT INCREASE SHOWN (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, May 5. The Unemployment Board's report on the registrations of unemployed as at April 13, 1935, indicates -that the slight increase revealed by the last report has been maintained during the period at present under review. The present total of 50,743 constitutes an increase of 398 on. the corresponding figure recorded last month. '.™ ~; The number in receipt of part-time employment under Scheme No. 5 or on sustenance in lieu of relief work as at April 13 was' 33,500, compared with 34,219 on April 14,. 1934, a decrease of 719. The number in full-time employment but assisted by wages subsidies from the unemployment fund,was 17,243 on the same date, compared with 27,583 a year,ago, a decrease of 10,430. This makes the total number who are a charge on the unemployment fund 50,743, .compared with 01,802 a year ago, a tofal reduction of 11,059.
