Young Man Killed When Gun Accidentally Discharges
SKYLARKING IN WHARE? TRAGEDY AT HASTINGS (Bv Telegraph —Press Association.) HASTINGS, To-day. \ young man named Cedrick Woodfield was killed by a .shot from a mm, accidentally discharged in a whare at a house in Pcrvms Street who lived at 610 Queen Street, was at the time at the home of -Arthur John Walden with two other young men. They were m the whare at about 9 p.m. They had been discussing deer-stalking, AA aklen hat ino- been out on April 21 last, when he”took the rifle which discharged the fatal shot. It is evident that the rifle when brought home was left loaded. Another rifle was also in the room and it appears that the two weapons were being handled in the course of what may have been a little skylarking. Walden picked up the rifle from the corner of the room where it had been left and while handling it, the weapon was discharged, shooting deceased througli the head. This morning, before Coroner G. bett at the inquest, evidence of identication was given. The inquest was adjourned until Tuesday next.
