FIXTURE NEXT WEDNESDAY.
COMPREHENSIVE PRO(JRAMMME.
Following a recess of four years, the decision of the Tawhiti and District Sports Committee to hold' a fixture this year was a popular move. A comprehensive programme, which should appeal to all sections of the public, has been arranged iror next Wednesday. Everything points to a successful meeting.
The horse section should prove aii exceptional attraction, as already several useful horses have been nominated. In the pony and factory class there promises to be keen competition and the judge, Mr H. Washer, will not find his task easy. The trotting event for the J. R. Corrigan Cup is creating considerable interest. The handicapper is Mr H. V. Ward. Competition. in the dairy section is for the R. J. Linn Cup. According to the standard of the entries little should separate the competitors. Members of hoys and girls’ clubs will be given an opportunity in tlie calf sections. The novelty events will cause amusement and athletes have been well catered for. The entries for the Highland dancing and piping events promise to eclipse previous records. Mrs Braid will judge the dancing and Mr J. Crawford the piping. Nominations for all events will be received by the secretary, Mr 11. Thrush, up to the day of the sports. A finale to the day will be a social and dance in the hall in the evening,, when the prizes won during the day will be presented. Wills’ Melody makers Orchestra will supply the music for the dance. . ..
