GERMAN CONSCRIPTION
Policy Does Not Affect Necessity for Labour Service A NEW TYPE OF WORKMAN POOD SUPPLY ASSURED (Doited Frees Association—By Electric Telsgrapb Copyright). Received 2.30 p.m. to-day. ° BERLIN, March 28. The reintfodiictioh of conscription does not effect the necessity for labour service, said Herr Hierl, Labour Service Leader, addressing the Labour Congress. "The army's mission is protection from external foes,” he said, "while the labour service is a practical application of Nazism and a guarantee that Germans will not again be sundered by class differences. "The labour service in future will precede the military service. It is proposed to create a new type of workman, such as a soldier, sailor, or perhaps a conception such as a gentleman. Moreover, labour service is essential to assure the food supply as indicated by the Allied blockade in wartime,” he added.
Land amelioration in Germany would increase agricultural produce by £160,000,000 annually and keep 250,000 employed for forty years.
