The construction of an aerodrome 10,500 feet above sea level, one of the ghest in the world, was planned by An ’lndian'tairways .ct&npaiiy' for the conveyance of pilgrims to Badrinath, which is famous for pilgrims, as-being near the course of the sacred Ganges.
There will probably be difficulties in taking off at such a height, but it is hoped that special aircraft will beet the case. Pilgrims at present go by a land route of 400 miles, which takes eight .weeks, they having to cross mountain' passes-and- dangerous -rivers, whereas the planes would take them in six hours.
