Mr Chas. Johnson, of Eltham, has returned from a visit to Wellington. Mr G. Nielson, of North Auckland, is on a visit to Auroa and is the guest of Mr and Mrs H. Sandford. Messrs J. Imlah and A. Imlah, of Manaia, left this morning for the MacKenzie County, South Island, on a holiday visit. Mr A. Campbell, who has resigned from the Community Stores 'Ltd., leaves Hawera to-morrow for Wanganui. A motion of condolence with Mr G. Court, secretary of the Kaponga Football Club, in the death of his father was carried at the annual meeting of the club held at Kaponga last night. Members of the Eltham Post Office staff this week farewelled Mr Hugh Kerr, who has been transferred to. New Plymouth. Several members of staff of the good qualities of Mr Kerr and wished him every success in his new appointment. He was preThe Rev. Fathers Higgins and P. Brennan, Redemptorist Fathers, will arrive in Hawera by the express tomorrow night for the purpose of conducting a Mission in St. Joseph’s Church, Hawera. The Mission will open on Sunday morning, and will last until Palm Sunday, a fortnight later. Fathers Brennan and Higgins are known to many radio owners through their sermons from Mount St. Gerard, Wellington, which are broadcast from 2YA once a month.

Dr. John Oairney, medical superintendent of the Hawera Public Hos'pital, was the speaker at the Hawera Rotary Club’s luncheon to-day, his subject being “hospital administration.” The members of the board wore also the guests of the club, those attending being Messrs. J. S. McKay (chairman), A. L. Campbell, T. A. Winks, S. J. Bennett ,F. Gillanders, I. J. Bridger, W. G. Simpson and Mr C. Harrison (managing secretary). Dr. W. M. Thomson expressed the club’s appreciation of Dr. Cairney’s address and Mr McKay returned thanks on behalf of the club’s guests. ,
