DISPUTE OVER ESTATE

FATE OF £75,961 IN BALANCE. AUCKLAND WOMAN’S WILL. (By Telegraph'—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, March 27. The case of Norman Campbell and others against th e New Zealand Insurance Co., Ltd., and the Attorney-Gen-eral to decide the fate of £75,961, residue of the estate of Mrs Catherine Smith, .Auckland, was continued in the Appeal Court to-day. Mr Meredith concluded his argument in the morning and was followed by Mr McVeagh, who appeared for the trustee, the New Zealand Insurance Co., Ltd. After Mr McVeagh had. spoken for some time the Chief Justice, Sir Michael Myers, remarked that in his opinion counsel for the trustee should hot address the court except insofar as he could assist in clearing up any of the submissions made by other counsel. Mr Justice Reed, referring to a similar case at Christchurch, said: “After the opposing counsel had spoken Iwas in a perfect fog until counsel for the .trustee cleared the issues.” Mr Justiee Smith .said he would like to hear all Mr McVeagh had to say. The Chief Justice then suggested that Mr McVeagh should during the luncheon adjournment endeavour to crystallise the main points on which he could speak to assist the Court. Counsel complied, and after Mr Rogerson had replied for the appellants the Court reserved its decision*
