BIG NAZI FILM
LARGE PORTIONS SCRAPPED. FIVE MONTHS’ WORK WASTED. It was stated recently by the Berlin correspondent of the Daily Telegraph that it was reported that large portions of the official film of the last Nazi party congress at Nuremberg—to be known as “The Triumph of Will” —had been scrapped. Work had .been proceeding actively on this film ever since the beginning or last September, when the congress was held, under the direction of Franlein Leni Riefensta&l, the star of “The Blue Light” and other Alpine films, who is a close Triend of Herr Hitler It was intended to make it an elaborate history of the Nazi movement.
The direction of the historical part was entrusted to Herr Walter Ruttmnnn—known to British cinemagoers as the maker of the modernistic silent film. “Berlin—the Symphony of a City”—under the general supervision of Fraul.ein Rliefenstahl.
Although no professional actors were employed, an army of technicians had been busy for five months. Thousands of Storm Troopers and members' of other Nazi organisations wove also placed at the disposal of the producers. All their efforts have, however, been wasted. A.t the express wish, it is .stated, of Herr Hitler, the film will now be confined to the actual incidents of. the congress..
