HAWERA TRACK NOTES
THIS MORNING’S WORK OPERATIONS BECOMING BUSIER. GOLDEN HAIR’S SMART POUR. (By “Childers.”) Some interesting galloping was done at Hawera this morning. Most of the horses are recommencing fast work in preparation for Easter racing. All galloping was done on the plough, which was dry and fast.
Aga Kban (Cole) commenced alone from the seven furlong peg, being picked up a* the five by Diagano (Edgecombe), the pair gfoing together throughout, with Aga Khan having the best of matters at the finish in 1.31-}. Aga Khan hit out freely without being as impressive as he was on Tuesday. Diagano on the other hand made an improved showing. Harvest Moon (Cole) put plenty of dash into his effort to register 50 3-ssee. for half a mile. He looks none the worse for the strenuous racing he has had recently. Autumn Leaf (Mills) and a Cynic gelding (Dombroski) sprinted three furlongs together in 38 1-5. The Cynic gelding is a five-year-old brown out of Solemnity, an unraeed mare by Hallowmas out of Solemn by Phaeton. He is an upstanding customer and looks an excellent type of a jumper, for which he is being prepared, although he may be given a race or two on the flat first. Golden Hair (Feasey) moved attractively over half a mile to occupy 49} sec. While in the ordinary sense this is a smart trial, for Golden Hair it was only average, as at her best she -would be capable of improving on this considerably. Arouse (Cole) was going much easier than Ingenuity (Duncan) at the close of seven furlongs in 1.34. Arouse could have improved considerably on- this time had it been required. He bowled along attractively. Ingenuity hit out in her usual lazy manner. She is a -very poor track worker. Useful pace work tasks were done by Stanchion. Carfex, Panloff, March Alone, One Whetu, Fairfax, -Link Divine, Acre—Rapt colt, Vansine, New Leaf, Corowa, Gold Gleam, Copev, Hannui, Enri, Puroto, .lust Off, Topthorn, Cynical Kid Passing Fancy and Dombey. Dombcy (Grindley) was schooled over a couple of fences on Tuesday morning, jumping well for a beginner. Owner-Trainer C. Jackson leaves for Te Rapa this afternoon with Aga Khan. He promises to at least pay expenses on the trip.
