Lydia Oswald, a blonde beauty and an accomplished linguist, was arrested on a charge of espionage, says the Brest correspondent of the Daily Mail. She confessed to the police that she went to Brest for the purpose of captivating Count dc Forceville, an officer on the latest cruiser, La Gulissonniere, to obtain for a foreign power secrets of the cruiser’s construction, but fell in love with the chosen victim. She said she was paid money for this mission, but loved him so desperately that she could not carry on the scheme. The pair were arrested when on their way. to Paris. De Forceville says he will marry Lydia.
