CRITICISM BY PARK BOARD MT. EGMONT UNKNOWN TO MANY “A VERY DIFFICULT PROBLEM.”, In reply to an enquiry by the Egmont National Park Board as to what steps were being taken by the Government Tourist Department to bring the attractions of Taranaki and Mt. Egmont before overseas and other visitors,- the general manager of the Department, in a letter read to the board yesterday, said that the district and mountain had a prominent place allocated to them in all of the .publicity works produced. In addition, many hundreds of whole-plate pictures and enlargements of the mountain were being regularly distributed to all overseas agencies for display purposes. Several excellent cinema films featuring the mountain were also on circuit overseas and on passenger liners.

"At the present moment,” the letter continued, “a special calendar has been produced by tlie Department showing the most recent photographs of Mt. Egmont, taken only a few .months ago.” On all recent and projected visits of cruise ships of the P. and O. and Orient lines, optional tours were quoted via New Plymouth and providing a visit to the mountain. Albums of views prepared for distinguished visitors to the Dominion always contained one or more pictures of Mt. Egmont. The
