PUBLIC SERVICE “CUTS”

NEW SOUTH WALES BEQUEST. MODIFICATION PROBABLE. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph Copyright). SYDNEY, March 1. Replying to a Public Service deputation the Premier, ■ Mr B. S. B. Stevens, said that- the effect upon the Budget for this year of easing the Public Service cuts in the grades between £IBO and £3OO a year would be examined for the guidance of the Government.

Mr Stevens added that he believed that if the upward trend of business continued and the public accounts mantained the steady improvement of the last two years, the Government would be able after July 1 to modify substantially the provisions of the salaries reduction legislation.
