MATAPU

HAPPINESS BALL. From Our Own Correspondent. The Matapu Cricket Club and Farmers’ Union combined to hold a very successful ball in the Matapu Hall on Tuesday evening. The hall was tastefully decorated with blue and gold streamers. Several novelty dances were held during the evening, the winners being, Monte Carlos, Mr. Grindlay and partner and Mrs. C. Smillie and partner, while a mystery train dance, which caused much amusement, was. won by Mr. WGatenby and Miss J. Findlay. Excellent music was supplied by Vinson’s Ambassadors Orchestra, with extras by Misses M. Guy and B. Seed. The duties of M.C. were carried out l>y Messrs A. Lobban and E. Guy. ( Supper arrangements were left in JKf the hands of Mesdames W. A. Guy and W. T. Seed. A competition for a box of chocolate", was drawn during * tlio evening, tlio winner being Mr. Left Robertson, with number XI.
