Virtual Semi-Final Played at Dominion Bowling Tourney

HAWERA PAIR HAVE WIN FOURTH ROUND RESULT (By Telegraph—Press Association. AUCKLAND, Jo-day. The virtual semi-final in the bowling rinks championship was played to-day. Buxton, Moil*, H. C. Clarke, and S. Jenkiu (Carlton) 24 beat Mine-ham, Donaldson, Liverside and Whittle (Grey Lynn 14. The Carltonians led 19— ; 1 on the tenth head and, although Whittle improved later, Jenkin was still by double' figures at the finish. Iho winner has won all fourteen games in the rinks.

Stephens', Mac-How, Livingstoiie and Robertson (Onehung.x) 27 beat Paget, Blood, Wilson and Mingins (Epsom) ]7 and won all l-he way. In tin- eighth round, Robertson .(onelife) drew a bye, leaving Jenkin (two fives) to play Whittle (one life) again. After the -first games 111 the championship pairs and singles this morning, there are still six pairs and eleven singles remaining. Results of early games are: Singles.—Sixth round: F.ngcbictsen (Napier) 17 beat Russell (St. Hellers) 14.

Pairs. —Fourth round : Filkington (Hamilton) 23 beat Beer (Napier) H. Engebretsen led all the way and had an advantage of three points when the time hell rang. He now meets Bourke (Hawera) the only other two-lifer. Beer failed to -score on tho first four heads and Pilkiugton had no difficulty in maintaining and increasing the load.

The pairs competition is being run on a sudden-death principle, while the rinks and singles are on a two-lite system. In the pairs, fourth round, Murray (Hawerall 9 beat McWliannell iHataitai) 17. The Wellingtonian had an early advantage, but Murray later got two fours and in an exciting finish was victorious by a couple of points. Harris (St. John’s, Wanganui), 27 beat J. Lobb (West End, New Plymouth) 8. The Harris brothers never gave the opposition a chance. They were members of Stone’s team which reached the fifth round of post-section play in the rinks championship.
