LIVESTOCK INDUSTRY
BRITISH FARMERS’ REQUEST GOVERNMENT STATEMENT (United Piesa Association —By Electrio Telegraph Copyright). LONDON, Jan. IC. The Farmers’ Union carried the following resolution by acclamation: This meeting expresses anxiety at the deplorable position of the livestock industry in view of the agreement with the Free State and imports from the Dominions and foreign countries in excess of market requirements and presses the Government to issue a statement directly Parliament reassembles. Unless speedy recognition is given of the pirnciple that the English producer is entitled to first place in Iris own market under conditions ensuring the economic well-being of livestock producers, virtual bankruptcy of the industry at an early date is inevitable.
