POLICE CASE FAILS

CHARGE AGAINST PRINTER. PRESS NOT REGISTERED. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, To-day. Holding that the prosecution had failed to establish a broach of tile Act. Mr. Stihvcll, S.M., dismissed a charge against a printer, George Desiandes, of keeping an unregistered press. The facts were that the press was registered in 1898 by defendant., who afterwards formed a company, which went into liquidation. Some of the assets were sold to a broker, and defendant bought the press from the brokers and recommenced business on his own account.

Mr. Stilwell held that there was nothing in tin; Act to say a press had to he registered.
