SEARCH FOR CAMPER
Parties Commence Search in Tararua Ranges SMOKE HAMPERS VISIBILITY RADIO BASE SET UP (United Press Association— By Electric Telegraph Copyright). CARTERTON, To-day. No further developments have occurred in the search for the missing camper, Harold P. Goodman, of Greytown, who is five days overdue in his return from a trip up the Waiohine Gorge, in the Tararua Ranges. Search parties have been despatched from the Tararua and Wairarapa tramping clubs and are expected to converge on Cone Hut after traversing Alt. Holdsworth, Totara Flat and southern areas. A small party left Carterton and Greytown to-day, and others are expected to leave during the week-end from other parts of the district.
If Goodman is found flares will he sent up from Cone Hut, hut these will be difficult to see on account of smoke from scrub fires. The radio emergency corps has established a base at Cone Hut and will transmit shortwave wireless mesasges from time to time. The weather in the ranges is windy and visibility is liamperecl hv smokiness.
