WANGANUI WOOL SALE

Medium Crossbreds Firm at Late Rates

GOOD QUALITY GENERAL BRADFORD DEMAND KEEN (By Telegraph—Press Association). WANGANUI, To-day. Medium cross-breds are firm at late rates at the Wanganui wool sale today. Bellies and pieces were at par to slightly dearer and crutehings Id dearer. All wool showed quality and style and was keenly competed for. Germany operated for suitable wools. Bradford was the most active operator with France next. There were a number of passings.

South Taranaki Offering Seventy=four Per Cent. Sold at Auction

For the first Wanganui -wool sale of the 1934-35 season held to-day the Farmers’ Co-operative Organisation Society reports a fully representative attendance of buyers. The total offering was approximately 26,000 bales, of which the society’s catalogue comprised 3000 bales. Approximately 74 per cent, of the offering was sold under the hammer.

The wool generally was in rather good order, very little shabby or seedy wool being in evidence. There were numerous passings, owing to growers’ reserves being much above buyers’ values, this probably being due to the fact that growers in this district still held last season’s ideas of values in their minds.

Bidding was keen and animated throughout the sale and prices compare favourably with sales recently held in Wellington and Napier. The following were some of the society’s realisations: —
