ROTARIANS AND SCOUTS
COMPLIMENTARY BANQUET. PRESENTATION OF BADGES. The Boy Scouts of the Raven and Tangahoe Troops, Ilawera, were the guests of the Haw era Rotary Club at dinner in the Carlton Tea Rooms last evening, when an enjoyable three hours were- spent, the programme being provided by the Scouts. President F. W. Horner, who is also South. Taranaki Coipmissioner of Scouts, presided, arid welcomed the boys, wTio were greeted with the Rotary song of welcome. Toasts, were, proposed as follows: ‘‘Scout Movement” (Rotarian W. M. Thomson —Group Scoutmaster Head), ‘‘Rotary Club” (Scoutmaster T. Lay —Vice-President R. H. Leece).
The following items were contributed bv the‘ Scouts: Haka, by Raven Troop; oboe solo, Assistant-Scout-master C. F. Carrel; song, Scout Geof Horner; playette, Raven Troop; recitation, Scout D. Sage; physical drill display, Tangahoe Troop. The investiture of six new Scouts was . conducted oy Scoutmaster Lay and badges were presented by Commissioner Horner as follows: Tenderfoot. —Gordon Cook, Jim Reading, George Reading, BruceiMilne, Dick Powley.
Second-class.—Graham Bayley, Cliff Phillips, Geof Horner, Brian Walsh. Cyclist.—Jack Carrel, Bob Graham.
Service- stars.—Jim Duffill, Bob Graham,Noel Keves, lan Entwistle, Robin Holloway, Ken Milne, Don. Brewer, Peter Fearon, Jack Carrel, Brian Walsh. '
Pathfinder.—Ken Milne, Noel Keyes, Jim Duffill, Bob Graham, Jack Carrel. Leaders.—Jack Carrel, Noel Keyes, lan . Entwistle, Robin Holloway, Graham Baylev.
Musician’s, basket-worker’s, electrician’s, carpenter’s and patrolleader’s- badges were also presented to Jack Carrel.
