EMPEROR GIVES AUDIENCE
RED CROSS DELEGATE TO JAPAN NEW ZEALANDERS WELCOMED (United Press Association— By Electric Telegraph Copyright.) Received 1.45 p.m. to-day. TOKIO, Oct. 24. The Emperor and Empress gave an audience to Mrs Carlyle Smythe, the Australian Red Cross delegate. It is unprecedented for the Emperor to give an audience to a woman. The chief New Zealand delegates were also given an audience and a reception.
