T. H. Horton, of Masterton, Avho did 73 yesterday, played consistently well to-day, doing another 73, Avhicli gave him the fine aggregate of 146 for the two rounds. But for taking three putts at French Pass he would haA*e done even better to-day. Imlay Saunders, of Wanganui, created a sensation by holing out in one at Terawhiti, 154 yards. Brian Silk followed up his 76 yesterday by doing three better this morning, making his aggregate 149. J. Goss, Avinner in 1923, went round this morning in 74 after striking trouble at Long Tom an-d taking three putts at French Pass. V. B. Haworth, the local champion, after taking 44 ori the outward journey, came home in 34.

Shaw opened in sensational fashion to-day, going out in 34 after taking three putts at the 7th. On the inward journey he did 37, only a six at the last preventing him from equalling or breaking the course record, making his round 71. His aggregate is 144 for two rounds, this putting him at the top of the list so far. Scores to hand include:—
