The amateur road cycle race round the mountain, under the control or the New Plymouth Amateur Cycling Club, was held an Saturday, maikuig the climax of the road season as. far ar that club was concerned. There were seven starters, and the event was won by R. Rundle, whose time for the distance was shr. 22mm. Easiest time was secured by R. L. Reed,» who finished fourth in the Hawexa Club’s 60 miles event last month. -Hm time was 4hr 49min 30sec, and he finished in third place. , The points competition resulted: c. A. Hawkins, 21 points, 1; h. Barlow 19 points, 2; C. Mima, 111 iroints, 3, L. McKay, 8J points, 4. _ Ruiidle won by a length from Dunn, Reed riding in seven minutes later, he defeating Mafia by two lengths ._ The donor of the cup, Mr Des George, presouted the trophy to the winner at the conclusion of the raw. PAI’EA CLUB EVENT. The Patea Amateur Club held a race over 11 miles on Saturday, the course 'being from Patea to Ball Road and back. Six riders faced- the starter J. McMahon being the first home, Mowed by V. Railfon and O. McKenna in that order. The riders battled against a steady wind on the return journey and the tune for the course was far from the record. The fixture was controlled by Messrs A. Maule and J. Bates. Details are: J. McMahon (4fm) J, \ Railton (scr) 2, C. McKenna (4Jm) 3. Fastest times: V. Railton 36m 16s, IN. Railton 37m 15s, J.-McMahon 40m 21s.
