WELLINGTON, May 4. • .-vs captain of the team I would like officially to thank the New Zealand Golf Association for their hospitality to us during our visit and to express the hope that those friendly, contests will continue and will grow in importance and popularity both in New Zealand and Australia,” writes Mr. Eric Apperly, captain of the Australian team which met New Zealand in the Kirk-Windeyer Cup match at Auckland last month, to Mr. G. O. Sutton, secretary of the New Zealand Gon Association. “Their friendly spirit, however, is their greatest asset,” he continues, “and it is to be hoped that, however important they are, they will never be played in too serious a vein and that the result will never be considered more important than the game itself. The team which we played against on this occasion was an ideal one in this respect.”
