MOKOIA SCHOOL IMPROVEMENTS DURING THE. YEAR. t REDUCTION IN CAPITATION. There were six present at the householders’ meeting at iUokaia- last evening. Mr W. J. Marsh, presided. Ihe balance-sheet showed a baianee of £3. In his report on the year’s working Mr Marsh thanked tbe committee foi their loyal support during the yeai and also to the head-teacner, Air H. KibblewJiite. tor his continued interest in the school and its surroundings. The grounds had a very tidy appearance considerable work having been undertaken. the garden plots had been dug and..forked, the alee ake. hedges removed and new ones planted, a rock garden had Been added, and levelling in front of the school carried out. Electrict light had been installed in the residence and school, and a gramophone added to the school apparatus. He considered that- chi ring the past- few years over £2OO had been spent on school improvements. The roll number at present stood at 40 and with reduced capitation it was impossible to meet, current expenses. The .school was fortunate in securing the services of an assistant teacher. _ - Use had been macTe of the Hawera baths for swimming instruction and thanks were- due to the borougn council and the custodian for this privilege. A vote of thanks was extended to Mr Marsh for his kindness in com eying the children to the baths, and also for the keen interest he had always taken in the children, and reference was also made to' the services of Mr Johnston to the school.
