MANGAMINGI
TENNIS SEASON CLOSES. (From Our Own Cor.respo ndent.) The season’s closing day of the Mangamingi Teimis Club was held on the school tennis courts on Saturday last. The club was fortunate in hawing a fine day and there was a good attendance. A: .number of friendly matches were played during the afternoon, after which the prizes won by those participating in', the competition matches playedT9|iring the season were presented by Mr Hardwick-Smith, who congratulated the club on the successful season it had enjoyed and expressed pleasure at the keenness displayed by members. 'The prize-winders were as follows: — Girls? first prize, Miss Dorothy Barnard; runner-up, Miss Edna Bretmer. Boys’ first prize, Master Cliff Gear; •runner-up, Master Lionel Pennington. The winners of the prizes for the best match of the closing afternoon were Mrs tSimpsod and Master Alec Ray (president of the dub). The two first prizes wiere given [by Mr Percy Brown, who was unfortunately a'bsent for the closing day, and the other prizes were given toy the Mangamingi Tennis Club. The competition was confined entirely to the junior members of the club, and it was noted with general satisfaction that the I standard of play was extremely good. I Afternoon tea was provided by the ' Mangamingi ladies.
