PARK BOWLING CLUB
QUO'S E OP 1933-34 SEASON MANY VISITORS ENTERTAIN ED Visitors from most of the club's in. the 'Taranaki province and from as far afield as Waverley and Wanganui attended the Park [Bowling 'Club’s official closing day in Hiawera yesterday. Friendly games were played among the visitors, the majority of the Park mem•bers having to stand on the bank in their honour.
Prior to the commencement of play the 'Park president, 'Mr J. J. Goodwin, expressed pleasure at the sight of such a representative attendance and at the conclusion of the games Mr G. A. Burgess, president of the Haw era club, expressed appreciation off the welcome on behalf of the visitors. ITe congratulated the Park Club on a remarkably successful season, which included winning the South Taranaki Easter tournament and being runner-up in the Taranaki shield competition, die also referred to the splendid state of the Park green, which reflected the utmost credit on those responsible for its upkeep. Other visitors also paid warm tributes to the .work of the green warden ; (!Mr F. 'A. Quin) and the greenkeeper (Mr IW. Barnett) on the condition of the green and it was generally considered that the club’s success had been largely due to the' excellence of the playing surface.
