KAPONGA WAR MEMORIAL
ANZAC BAY SEE,VICE. THE UN VEILING CEREMONY. (Prom Our Own Correspondent.) At the conclusion of a special meeting of the Ivaponga Town Board, held on Tuesday evening, the'/board made final arrangements for the forthcoming Anzac Day service and the unveiling of the Memorial Gates and Tablet erected to commemorate the sacrifice' made by the soldiers from the Kaponga district who fell in the Great War. There is to be a public service at the town hall, commencing at two o'clock, at which the chairman of ‘ the Town 'Board will preside. The officiating ministers will be the Rev. A. J. Parnell, vicar of the parish, and -the. Rev, .Mr Spencer, of Eltharn - . In view of the subsequent unveiling ceremony at the park the service in .the town hall has been considerably curtailed this year. The Rev. Mr Spencer, of lias been invited to deliver the Anzac address. Mr M. R. Jones, of Hawera, president of the .(South Taranaki.Returned l Soldiers’ Association, has accepted the board’s invitation to perforin the ceremony of unveiling the Memorial Tablet at the new: Memorial Gates* This will take place at the conclusion: of.. the ceremony in the town hall. Invitations have been extended ,to the various neighbouring local bodies, the members of the R.SA. branches in South and (Central Taranaki, Legion of Frontiersmen, next of kin, Girl Guides, Brownies and Fire Brigade. - - Seating accommodation will be available at the foot of the memorial tablet for the next of kin, and at the conclusion of the ceremony the (presentation of wreaths will be carried out.
