LYNCHING IN AMERICA

HOOVER JOINS CONTROVERSY. GOVERNOR. ROLPH REBUKED. Press Association —By Electrio ‘Telegraph Uopyngnt.; SAN FRANCISCO, Nov. 30. Mr H. Hoover has entered the Hart lynching controversy with a, sharp indirect exchange between himself and Mr Rolph., Governor of California. Yesterday the former President signed a joint statement with a number of edu;cationists (and civic leaders at his home at Palo Alto, condemning Mr , Rolph’s stand. “I deplore the use of troops against our people,” said Air Rolph t-o-dav. “Look at the mess we got into when troops were called out at Washington against the bonus marchers.” This hsis reference to Mr Hoover’s eviction of the veterans in the summer of 1932 and drew a sharp counter-statement from Air Hoover accusing Air Rolph of “gross ignorance of facts” and painting out that none was shot or otherwise injured. The calling of troops at Washington was done to prevent further bloodshed.
