In view of the large, proportion of British motor-cars imported into New Zealand has shown by the Customs' returns. Mr E. F. He was probably not aware that one of the reasons why American cars had been used so largely in the past in New Zealand had been that the British manuiacturer at that time had not been making a ,cair suitable to the conditions existing here. . , , „ Of lute years British manufacture had met the special requirements of Dominion usage and the Customs returns showed that since then Britishmade cars had been purchased in increasing numbers and now formed a l&rire percentage of the total numher of cars imported. The Prime Minister added that in 1930 cars imported from the United Kingdom totalled 2867. compared with 99‘yT from foreign sources.
