CAMP PAY REDUCTION

DROP OF 5s WEEKLY. INSTRUCTIONS FROM BOARD. (By Teiegrapb—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Nov. 8. Instructions have been issued by the Auckland office of the Unemployment Board to county councils in the province that single men in unemployment camps controlled by them are to be paid 20s a week as from Monday instead of 2os, the rate now ruling. No official explanation of the decision has so far been made, but in actual practice the new rate will bring unemployed single men in county camps into line with single men employed in Public Works Department camps and in similar camps controlled by other Government departments, who are paid 10s a week and are fed and housed.
