BOY SCOUT CONTESTS

OLLERENSHAAV CUP TO TANGAHOE. , I TOTEM POLE TO MANAIA. A muster of 13oy Scouts totalling , over 150 was present at Eltham on] Saturday for the annual competitions of the South Taranaki Association. The Ollerenshaw Cup and the Legion of Frontiersmen’s totem pole were competed for. The cup was won by the Tangahoe Wolf patrol, aind the pole . by the IVianaia grey cubs Second and third places were tilled respectively by Eltham and Hawera, and by Manaia red and Pat pa _ Major F. W. Sandford and Commissioner F. \V. Horner were present and participated in the direction ol , the events. Mr Bridger complimented the commissioner on the progress of the Scout movement in South Taranaki and added appreciation of the Salvation Army .Boys’ Home Band ,aml the Eltham Pipe Band which had contributed musical items and led the procession from the town. . i Air Horner expressed appreciation of the hospitality of the Eltham committee. The results of the day were very creditable and no patrol bad a “walkover.” Oil behalf of the visitors he thanked Mr Bridger, the bands, the judges and the ladies who provided refreshments. At the conclusion he presented the trophies to the winners and complimented them on their good work. Results were as follow:
