English and Japanese cotton conversations opened in private. It is understood the Japanese presented documents relating to the industrial and financial situation in Japan, and discussions thereon were adjourned. This morning Mr Okada declared it would be impossible to make a statement till the conversations were completed.
TREATY PLAN AT DELHI
SETTfLEMENT OF DIFFERENCES
Received 2.50 p.m. to-day. CALCUTTA, Nov. 6, A commercial treaty is reported to have been reached at Delhi to-day between the Indian Government and the Japanese following a settlement' "of differences over quotas in Indian imports of cotton textiles from Japan and Japanese purchases of Indian raw cotton. The agreement probably will be made effective as from November. 10 and will be on -the basis of terms offered by India, namely 410,000,000 yards of piece goods imports - and 1,500,000 bales of raw cotton exp.or.ts.
