EGMONT JUBILEE SHOW
THREE DAYS’. ATTRACTIONS
OUTSTANDING STOCK EXHIBITS
With entries a record and the quality of the exhibits such as would grace any Royal Show ring, the Eigmont A. and P. ' Association’s jubilee -show at Hawera on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday will provide the finest array of stock yet witnessed in Hawera, and possibly in Taranaki. Prominent breeders throughout the North Island, as well as provincial exhibitors, are competing and the exhibits represent many of the finest pedigree herds in the Dominion. In all other sections quality also predominates, with the numbers of entries greatly in excess of those of last year. As a result of the increase in the number of entries in the pig section special accommodation has had to be provided, and a complete new row of pens erected. The show presents this year g. wide diversity of attractions and on each, of the three days the programme of events is well varied to suit public tastes. The first day of the show is usually regarded by the public as judging day, but this year the association has arranged a. number of additional attractions for the afternoon and evening. Wood-chopping competitions, which are timed to commence at 1.30, are being reintroduced as the feature of the afternoon, and many of the leading a? omen of the Dominion are participating, including J. „EL Shewrey, present New Zealand champion. Hunting and wirejumping competitions and trotting competitions will also be held in the afternoon. A tug-of-war and a programme of athletic events will occupy the evening. In the tug-of-war teams will consist of five men, with a maximum weight of 60 stone. The competition will be run on the two-life system, which will ensure a full evening’s programme. In order to vary- the programme the sports will be sandwiched between the pulls, the events including 100, 220, 440 and 880 yards men’s handicaps, secondary school boys’ race, ladies’ 100 and 440 yards relay, one mile and three mile cycle handicaps and high jump. As a novelty item a ladies’ tug-of-war will also be provided. This will be post entry. Variety and originality were keynotes of the display—a brilliant exposition ot the fireworks-maker’s craft.” Experts f-.-Mii fhe Wainoni Company will again attend at Hawera. to personally supervise the fitting up and firing of the disolav. Such a popular feature will doubtless again' command a large attendance of the public.
