SUGAR FACTORIES IN IRELAND. ESTIMATED £1,500,000 OUTLAY (United Pres* Association —By Electric Telegraph Copy rig nt. i LONDON, Nov. 4. Siemen Schukert, Berlin, has been awarded the larger part of the contract by the Irish Free State Government for the construction of three new suo-ar beet factories at Tuam, Thurles anti Mallow. The price is estimated at £1,500.000. There was keen competition in many countries. Siemen Schukert also obtained a £5.000,000 contract tor the Shannon electricity scheme in the early days of the Free State.
